There is a stretch of treacherous, winding road between Half Moon Bay and Big Sur in Northern-middle CA, called Route 1.

We drove to Napa one year for a wine tasting vacation. The view from a deserted rest stop was amazing.

Many glazes were used to mute the distant shore. Many more glazes were applied to create the sun’s intense reflection on the ocean. The ocean was what I refer to as “California Blue”.  (Connecticut Blue is more gray)

I added a distant sailboat because the painting needed one.
