First Place in San Diego State Fair 2024

Painted quickly during a rainy few days in San Diego.
My friend Jill, sent a photo to me.
I was immediately inspired.
I loved the photo for its intensity, its power and beauty.
Desperately, I wanted to capture the wave’s movement and sea spray.
I asked Jill to ask the person who took the photo if I might try painting it.
The original photo was from a woman named “Candy”. I believe the location is in
Monterey, CA.
Candy gave permission.
