FARM IN LANCASTER, PA – 24″ X 30″

My father lived in Lancaster, PA for a period of time, making Row-Cats for handicapped people so that they would be able to enjoy the water.  He met a woman there with whom he fell in love and eventually married.

This painting was my wedding present to them both. It shows a very picturesque farm and waterfall that was one of many beautiful farms in the area. This is the land of the Amish. The Amish people believe in a much simpler life than our high-tech modern world of smart phones and fast cars. Most Amish still use a horse and buggy.

They have a most neighborly custom of helping each other build a structure for their families or their farm animals. It is called a “Barn Raising.”All the men gather and build the structure. The women supply the food and drink while enjoying each other’s company.
