Completed October 2017, this is one of the smallest paintings I’ve ever painted. It also has taken me the longest time to finish; Almost 3 months.

The attraction in attempting this painting is the late afternoon sun casting long shadows on the deck. Such end of day sunshine appears brighter, warmer in color than mid day sun. Shadows are much more interesting too, as the sinking sun elongates these shadows to create their own shapes, value and color.
